Prepare 3D assets before production or web delivery

Use these tools to check file formats, polygon budgets, UVs, CAD handoff and delivery requirements before a 3D asset enters production.

The decision

What this solves

Asset prep issues are expensive because they appear late: broken UVs, heavy files, unclear formats and missing material references.

Workflow

Step-by-step workflow

The sequence keeps the work practical and reduces the usual guesswork before production.

Pick the format route

Choose a practical format path for the target platform.

Basis and limitations

The pathway supports both artist utility and buyer-side handoff quality. Technical guidance should be checked against the final render engine and platform.

Khronos glTF 2.0 specification: Defines the glTF and GLB format, material model and texture channels. Check exported assets in the target viewer as well as against the format.

XO3D Shop model catalogue: For an existing source model, check the listed formats and licence before choosing an asset. A purchased model may still need preparation for your renderer or web viewer.

Common mistakes
  • Treating CAD as render-ready.
  • Ignoring UV waste until texturing.
  • Exporting one format without checking the target platform.

FAQ

Questions this page answers

Do these tools upload my 3D files?

The Labs tools are designed as browser-local utilities where possible. Check each tool page for its exact handling note.

What should I check before sending CAD for CGI?

Check format, scale, units, part naming, surfaces, material notes and any missing product details.

Is asset prep different for web and final renders?

Yes. Web and AR need stricter file size, polygon and texture budgets than offline stills.

About the studio behind these tools

XO3D is a director-led product CGI studio, and these tools come out of its own production pipeline rather than being built as marketing. We work with tech, industrial and premium consumer brands on product films, launch stills and interactive experiences.

That makes us the right choice for launch-critical work where the visual standard has to be high and the product may not exist yet.

It makes us the wrong choice for three things: hundreds of routine SKUs to a fixed template, a permanently live self-service configurator across a large range, and the campaign idea itself.
