About Cube Map Converter
Cube Map Converter is a free, browser-based tool from XO3D Labs. Convert equirectangular HDRI and 360 panorama images into six named cube-map faces, or rebuild an equirectangular skybox from px, nx, py, ny, pz and nz faces with browser-local preview and PNG export. It is built for 3D artists, CGI generalists and technical artists, runs entirely in your browser with no signup or install, and is one of 70 free tools in the Labs suite.
What it does
Cube Map Converter turns a 2:1 equirectangular panorama or HDRI into six named cube-map faces for skyboxes, 3D viewers and environment maps. It can also rebuild an equirectangular image from six cube faces. The conversion runs in your browser and the exported PNG files are not brand-stamped.
How to use it
Start in Equirect to Cube Faces mode and upload a 2:1 panorama, then download the px, nx, py, ny, pz and nz files as a ZIP or a cross-layout PNG. Switch to Cube Faces to Equirect mode when you already have six faces, and drop each image onto its matching slot before downloading the rebuilt panorama.
Face order and orientation
The face order follows the common positive and negative axis naming: px/right, nx/left, py/top, ny/bottom, pz/front and nz/back. Standard output keeps the top of the panorama as +Y; use Flip Y only when a target engine expects DirectX-style vertical orientation. The 3D preview lets you catch flipped or swapped faces before export.
