Circle of Confusion
Circle of confusion sets the blur threshold counted as "in focus". Smaller CoC means a stricter standard and shallower depth of field. It scales with sensor size.

Formula
H = f² / (N · c) + f
Near = s(H-f) / (H+s-2f)
Far = s(H-f) / (H-s)
f focal, N f-stop, c CoC, s subject distance. Far is infinite once subject reaches the hyperfocal distance.
Pro Tips
DoF is roughly one-third front, two-thirds back at normal distances, not 50/50.
Focus at hyperfocal to get everything from half that distance to infinity sharp.
Aperture and distance dominate. Halving the f-stop or doubling distance changes DoF far more than focal length alone.
