About Roughness Map Generator
Roughness Map Generator is a free, browser-based tool from XO3D Labs. Create roughness maps from images in the browser with luminance or RGB channel selection, gamma, black and white point controls, blur, sharpen, inversion, material presets, 3D preview and PNG export for PBR workflows. It is built for 3D artists, CGI generalists and technical artists, runs entirely in your browser with no signup or install, and is one of 70 free tools in the Labs suite.
What it does
Roughness Map Generator turns a source photo, texture or greyscale image into a PBR roughness map for CGI materials. It helps control which parts of a material read as glossy, satin, worn, matte or rough in render engines and real-time 3D workflows.
How to use it
Upload a texture image, choose luminance or an RGB channel as the source, then tune gamma, black point, white point, contrast, brightness, blur, sharpen and invert settings. Use the material presets and 3D preview to check the result before export.
Downloads and privacy
The image is processed locally in the browser. The Download Roughness PNG action appears after an image is loaded and saves instantly.
